Two Great Brooklyn Non Profits Share in the Proceeds of this Book!
Guidebooks don’t make big bucks. But the modest proceeds of this book, The Brooklyn Experience, have been shared with two Brooklyn nonprofit organizations.
- The Brooklyn Children’s Museum (est. 1899), in Crown Heights, was the first “hands-on” kids museum in the world, today serving tens of thousands of children a year. Its exhibits are multicultural, multiethnic, and celebrate diversity.
- Groundswell (est. 1996), headquarted in the neighborhood of Gowanus, is a community mural project that uses art as a tool for social change. Their impressive work with underserved, marginalized, and economically disadvantaged youth is visible city-wide in hundreds of colorful, expressive wall murals.
The amount of money generated by this book won’t make a huge difference. But this publicity might! We aim to bring attention to the creative work being done to address the challenges facing Brooklyn, and our city.
