The Brooklyn Experience!
BrooklynTravel is a crowd sourcing effort that features photos taken by and for visitors to Brooklyn. What the photos have in common is a love of the diversity, architectural variety, history and surprisingly different vistas (of sky, water, and community) one can enjoy in this, the most characterful of New York City’s five boroughs.
This Instagram project has been launched just prior to the 2016 publication of the guidebook, The Brooklyn Experience: The Ultimate Guide to Neighborhoods & Noshes, Culture & the Cutting Edge, by Ellen Freudenheim, published by Rutgers University Press, and sold online and in e-book format. This book is Freudenheim’s fourth guidebook to Brooklyn; she was a pioneer in celebrating Brooklyn as a place to visit and explore, when her first guidebook was published in 1991. Her other Brooklyn guidebooks were published in 1998 and 2004.
But The Brooklyn Experience, unlike its predecessors, features wonderful photos! Old Brooklyn photos, and new ones, too. Because you can’t really grasp the vast range of Brooklyn without actually seeing it. On the book’s website, find more information, for visitors, residents, wannabes and expat Brooklynites.
